Because I have spent much of my life observing nature, and have lived in Alaska for over 30 years, I derive much inspiration from birds and other wildlife. My carvings usually have a stylized, or native-inspired look to them.

Ceremonial headpiece made from wood and porcupine quills with beaded accent, then hand painted in a Alaskan native traditional design.

A carved loon, a "fishing" bird found in Alaska. Each piece is individually carved and painted, then attached to the main body of the loon.

This is a small piece that is in progress. To this pair of otters I will add carved details of fur and then finish with a light airbrushed paint.
